About the courses

1. What types of Romanian language courses does Liros offer?

LIROS offers Romanian language courses from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficiency), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Each level helps students develop their communication, grammar, and cultural understanding step by step — from basic conversation skills to advanced fluency.

Our programs include:

  • A1 – Beginner: everyday expressions and simple interactions.
  • A2 – Elementary: short conversations and practical vocabulary.
  • B1 – Intermediate: confidence in daily communication and writing.
  • B2 – Upper-Intermediate: fluency and accuracy in various contexts.
  • C1 – Advanced: understanding complex texts and expressing nuanced ideas.
  • C2 – Proficiency: near-native command of Romanian.

You can choose between intensive, standard, and conversation-based courses. Each program is designed to help foreigners learn to speak naturally and confidently in everyday situations.

2. Can I join even if I don’t know any Romanian?

Absolutely. Many of our students start from zero. We create a safe and encouraging environment where you’ll learn step by step, starting with greetings, basic phrases, and pronunciation.

3. How do I know my level (A1, A2, B1, B2)?

You can take our free placement test before enrolling. It helps us recommend the perfect group or create a personalized plan for your goals.

4. How long does it take to learn Romanian?

That depends on how much time you invest. On average, a full level (A1 or A2) takes about 40–60 hours. Our intensive courses help you progress twice as fast compared to traditional classes.

5. Do you offer online courses?

Yes! You can study Romanian online from anywhere in the world or join our in-person lessons in Sibiu. The experience and quality of teaching are the same.

6. What happens if I miss a class?

If you miss a group session, we’ll send you the materials and can offer an optional make-up mini-lesson with your teacher. For individual courses, we can reschedule your class in advance.

7. Do you issue official certificates?

Yes, after each completed module, students receive a Certificate of Completion that indicates the CEFR level reached (A1–C2).

8. What is the “Discover Sibiu in Romanian” course?

It’s a short 2–3 day immersion course combining language learning and a cultural tour of Sibiu. You’ll learn essential expressions and practice them directly in real-life contexts — in cafés, museums, and markets.

Our Teaching Method

9. How are Liros lessons different from other Romanian courses?

Our method is context-based and conversation-driven. Grammar is integrated naturally into dialogues, and every lesson has a clear communication goal. We believe you should learn the language by using it, not by memorizing rules

10. Do you use official textbooks or your own materials?

We combine both. Our teachers have developed original materials and video lessons tailored to the needs of foreign learners, following CEFR standards.

11. Can I really learn to speak fluently?

Yes — if you participate actively. Our focus is oral practice and real-life communication, not translation or passive exercises. Most students reach B1–B2 fluency in 6–12 months with consistent learning.

12. Do you organize speaking clubs or cultural events?

Yes! Liros students often meet in cafés, events, or cultural activities to practice Romanian in real situations. It’s part of our community spirit.

Teachers and Community

13. Who are the teachers at Liros?

Our teachers are certified specialists in teaching Romanian as a foreign language. The school is led by Dr. Sînziana Șipoș, a philologist and passionate educator who has created a vibrant international learning community in Sibiu.

14. Will I have the same teacher throughout my course?

Usually, yes — this ensures continuity and a personal learning relationship. For intensive modules, we may add co-teachers for extra speaking sessions.

15. Is there a community for students?

Yes. Liros isn’t just a language school — it’s a community. Students meet, support each other, and share experiences about life in Romania

Romanian Citizenship and Integration

Yes. We offer specialized citizenship preparation courses that cover all official topics — Romanian culture, geography, history, and political system — plus speaking practice for the interview.

22. What level of Romanian is required for citizenship?

The National Authority for Citizenship usually expects at least B1 level proficiency in Romanian. Our courses can help you reach and confidently demonstrate that level.

23. Do you help foreigners who have Romanian family roots?

Yes. Many of our students learn Romanian because they have Romanian relatives or want to reconnect with their heritage. We personalize each course to help you integrate linguistically and culturally.

24. Can you assist with the application process for citizenship?

We’re not a legal office, but we can guide you linguistically — helping you understand forms, documents, and the interview process in Romanian.
